A change of ownership for Domaine Albert Morot.
The house of Albert Morot, founded in 1820 and owned by Geoffroy Choppin De Janvry, has been acquired by the Guillaume and Sophie Poitrinal family unit.
Farmed organically over eight hectares and distinguished by ten appellations, the Albert Morot estate produces the most famous premiers crus of the Beaune appellation, which shape this historic estate in Beaune:
Bressandes, Grèves, Marconnets, Cent Vignes, Teurons, Aigrots and Toussaints.
The house also possesses the emblematic “Clos de la Bataillère”, a monopoly of about two hectares in the Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er cru appellation, growing white and red grapes on the remarkable Vergelesses climat.
The philosophy of the estate is to produce pure and racy wines, highlighting the identity and typicity of each of the terroirs.
Geoffroy Choppin De Janvry, agronomic engineer and great-grandnephew of the founder, took over the estate in 2000 and continued the qualitative approach of his predecessors. In 2010, he embarked on the path of organic farming and obtained the “Bio” organic certification in 2015.
The new owners are calling on the winemaker Pierre-Jean Villa to take charge of the destiny of the house. With his experience of more than 25 years in Burgundian and Rhone wines, Pierre-Jean aims to breathe new life into this mosaic of plots to produce vibrant and elegant wines for “gourmet enthusiasts” around the world. He believes that great wines can only be produced from land and fruit that is treated with respect.
The house continues to be located at the Château de la Creusotte. Tasting and sales at the property by appointment only.
